Reeds
The reeds form a comb, which guides the warps to the weave
point, and press the weft in place after the yarn
tufts have been placed by the grippers. Every loom design
has its own reed design, indeed there may be several reed
designs applicable to one loom. In order to specify a reed
we need to know its profile (trace round or photocopy) and
what pattern of chamfering is required to minimise damage
to the warp and yarn.
